Six Reasons Why We Don't Communicate
1. We don't know who to communicate with.
2. We don't listen.
3. We don't know how to listen.
4. We are so concerned about win-lose and the art of protecting our backside that we don't know the needs of the other party and, unfortunately in many cases, don't care.
5. We are so concerned about getting our point across that we miss the other person's need.
6. We use our own filter to hear what we want to. We process the data, discard the part we don't like and end up with a diluted understanding. The way we see the problem is the problem.
All or part of these deficiencies in a partnership can create a long-term rocky relationship.
