Notes:  

1.This contact person (CP) may be a supervisor or anyone knowledgeable of a best practice.  

2.Identify the general activity where the best practice is found, for example, maintain equipment(verb and noun).    

3.How the best practice is identified.A "Best Practice" is defined as a superior method or innovative practice that contributes to improved performance of the process.    

4.This is the number from the Best Practice Classification Index (Attachment 2b).This is an index number to assist in cataloging and retrieving best practices.If no number fits the process, use the symbol # and a number will be developed by the Commonwealth Competition Council.

7."Best" may be based on several factors, to include but not limited to:    

a. expert review (for example, assessment, award, AF functional office, or auditing team);

b. results are clearly superior to those of comparative organizations;

c. results are "breakthrough" in efficiency/effectiveness (high return on investment);

d. multiple sources agree the practice is superior;

e. use of the latest technology; or

f. high number of satisfied repeat customers.

While the individual best practices are shown under the Best Practices Repository, you may also query the repository by keying in a word or phrase below. The repository will then be searched for your phrase. If it is not found, you are invited to e-mail the Commonwealth Competition Council with the topic you are interested in, and an attempt will be made to contact one of the Virginia state government agencies responsible for that issue.
